The Tale of the Prince and the Sorceress

There once was a Prince, of kindness and virtue,

In a land of knowledge and wonder though,

Did a Sorceress tempt his tender heart to pursue,

And thus true suffering did the prince begin to know.

With an accidental song and a spell most cruel,

The Sorceress took the young prince’s mind,

He became her servant, he became a fool,

He was by loves cold hand blind.

The enchantment lasted longer than the poor Prince could know,

And more and more miserable he became,

Never before in his life had he felt more woe.

And though by mistake, the Sorceress was to blame.

He loved her but she felt his love all the less,

In her guilt she too fell for loves clever snare,

But not for the prince but his comrade Stress,

So much so that all they could do was sware.

For a moment the Sorceress knew the Prince’s plight,

She had escaped loves cold grip but could not set him free,

He was too far gone; he was beyond her sight,

She feared that soon all would be debris.

Then through the darkness came Beauty and salvation,

And thus the prince was freed from the Sorceress’s hand,

Began a new era of happiness and creation

Where he was Beauty’s king and it was known through the land.

But if he had not endured the Sorceress’s torment,

Never could he appreciate Beauty’s love and be content.
