A fable about frogs.
Once upon a lilly frond in a hidden little pond,
Three frogs did cavort in song.
The mama frog was Her Royal Highness of Altoes
The daddy frog was His Royal Highness of Bass.
The baby frog was The Royal Princess of Sopranoes
And the lilly frond was the High Place of all the gold fish and dragon flies and such.
The merry frogs had a High Good time for many a day and many some time.
Their song in croaks was tunefull and gruff but all who listened felt pleased with it such.
One day in the merry pond, a stranger appeared.
His legs were quite long.
His arms were quire large.
He carried a bag and picked up the three frogs.
He carried them away royal crowns to all.
The story is not all that sad.
But, quite true.
The three frogs were bull frogs,
And, the stranger ate them.
Wasn’t much time later
After his repast
The Stranger saw his legs turn green
To his horror his arms were marked
Like the frogs leathery skin!
He hopped on his legs.
He arched his arms too late.
The Stranger died for lack of dragonflies
And missing the little pond
And missing the lilly frond.
