The roads one travels or the paths one takes as we travel through time are only known to oneself. The paths we share or the roads we travel together are the only things shared. No one will ever know what I do for myself but if you are a path crossed along the way. You will know what I will do for you and I will be thankful for what you have done for me.

What I do for me I do selfishly
What I do for others I do willingly and selflessly
The road I travel is unforeseen
Each mile a new beginning
Roads travelled by others are roads I will never know
Miles and miles seen by only you

Our paths may cross wandering through the miles
Paving the path of desolate dust
Your road is long as is mine
The miles we travel challenged or serene
Travelling together sharing a mile or two
The road is long but never forlorn

Travelling alone I do for me selfishly
Travelling together I do willingly
Roads once travelled can never be altered
Miles yet to be seen a mystery
What I do for me will stay with me
What I do for others are immortal; a memory

The road is long with many a winding turns
The miles travelled a moment in time
Remembering a road once travelled
Or wandering down a new path
I do for me selfishly as I travel alone
I do for others selflessly as we travel together

As our roads come to an end
Our paths do part
I will take with me each step taken along the way
For we will never know why our paths crossed
Or the miles unforeseen
We will always have what we did for each other.

What you do for yourself stays with you always. What you do for others is never forgotten.
