The Truth About Triond.
If I had a buck for every time I’ve heard about just how far Triond has fallen since its inception, I’d never need to write again. There are a few universal truths about this place, but the one we’re going to focus on is this:
The sky is always falling.
Go back and read old threads in the Triond forum. Explore and see how many articles have been written on ‘the fall of Triond’ and such.
Plagiarists were going to destroy the place. Non english speaking writers were going to bring the roof down. The spinners spun.
Yet here we are, years later, and there’s Triond. No longer a little rinky dink outfit with a few hundred writers with delusions of literary grandeur, but a quickly growing and evolving online publishing mecca.
It’s a key word there: evolving. This site evolves daily. It continues to improve. Usually not in the manner that many want…. but from the angle of marketing a product, the evolution has been perfect.
The new dashboard. Profile videos. Synthetic? Of course. Badges? Worthless. But from a marketability point of view, it works.
And now the site is being invaded by malware or some such. And as it has been with all of the other random glitches and such… the sky is falling again. Except… it’s not. This is the internet, people. It evolves every 20 minutes. And Triond has, to this point, managed to keep up. Is this a pain in the ass? Sure. It has cost me thousands of views today. My daily total right now looks like what I usually do in an hour. It may very well cost me some money. But as they always have, Triond will evolve. The machine will keep growing.
But it doesn’t matter. People will panic, as unnecessary as it is. A malware attack is a pretty damn common occurrence on the web; It’s a small miracle it hasn’t happened yet.
I know, I know. Triond’s reputation is now irreparably shattered. Except… it isn’t. Learn about promoting, and you’ll see that Triond’s reputation has absolutely nothing to do with views. Even your reputation doesn’t matter.
So relax. Triond isn’t going under, this isn’t the Triond apocalypse. It’s just the latest problem. We’ve had them before, and I promise you… they will happen again. It’s the nature of the beast.
