Gandhi said strove not for National Freedom. He emphasized that he called for Individual Freedom.

Gandhi, the Father of Our Nation,

Condemned Caste or Religion,

God for him was truth and his mission

Sathygraha or truth force was his passion.

Where there is truth I behold,

A frail figure that was so bold

In the face of harsh adversity

Never thought to give up tenacity.

Obama says, with force of personality

Gandhi made his theory practicality.

When British Empire saw no sunset,

Midnight darkness engulfed our nation

People woke up to a midnight sun

The world was stunned – for

There was neither gun nor cannon.

Yet the freedom of man he yearned

Till this date has not been earned.

National freedom for him, but a means,

To beget  better men and better beings.

I know a lot about Gandhi and I think this is a really good poem to appreciate the man for the great work and ideas he followed. A true legend.
