A poem dedicated to Walter Cronkite.
The Way It Was
(A personal tribute to Walter Cronkite upon his death on July 18, 2009.)
Life-time achievement in a brilliant career,
A mentor for countless others;
Death at 92,
Ripe old age by any measure.
A champion of “truth in journalism”,
With gentle delivery and mannerisms,
Came to our sitting rooms every evening,
As the “most trusted man in America”.
It must have irked you so,
To see these lame reality shows,
And biased commentaries,
Ruling the TV media of this generation.
Legends come and go everyday,
But we shall remember you always,
As the man who showed us the world
The way it was…
(July 2009)
