When a boy makes a wish, sometimes it might come true, so be careful what you wish for.

So by the well William wished away

A few cents in for some better days

He closed his eyes, while wishing strong

And hoped that it would not take long

He walked then from the wishing well

Found a close lake and sat a spell

He quickly then did close his eyes

Waking, years later, to his surprise

Upon his face new whiskers grew

A dark brown growth, with grays, a few

He stood so slowly, stretching all

To see, he’s now about six feet tall

The wish, the wish, it had come true

Years had passed, like birds it flew

He did not know what year it be

Starting then he walked walk to see

He found himself then close to home

Thinking then if it was wrong

To wish away the many years

The sight of home, it brought new fears

Quickly then to the well he ran

Hoping to reverse the wish at hand

And stumbling then upon a rock

He hit his head and reversed the clock

Awakening then again as a boy

A sight he did so much enjoy

He checked his body up and down

Neither beard nor height could then be found

He made one wish again this time

To destroy the well that bore the crime

So at the place of the wishing well

William Wainright wished the well to hell

Great job, Mike! It reads like a classic poem from Edgar Allen Poe. I love the flow and rhyme scheme. And it tells a story, too! Love it.

Sometimes we don’t know what we are wishing for. Maybe this is the reason why some of our wishes are not granted by God.
