Poem about the wingless angel.
“The Wingless Angel” By Karla J. Fox, October 24, 2010
I sat atop a mountain today
And watched the setting sun
From golden yellow to a golden glow
The sky of orange and blue and rose
All from the beautiful one.
When it finally said good-bye for the day
I saw the moon begin to play
And a warm, quiet wind began to blow
From the mountaintop to the valley below
The stars came out, one by one
To dance along as mirrors of the sun
I made a wish and blew it away
Hoping maybe it’d come true some day
I sat alone on the mountain top
And closed my eyes to start to pray
This I said to God above,
“Thank you Lord for all you’ve done.
You’ve given me a family,
You’ve given me a home in thee.
If you ever have something special to do
I ask that you let me do this for you.
It doesn’t matter, large or small,
Just let me be the one you call.
I can be your wingless angel, Lord,
You can count on me to do your word.
I will set aside my wishes, I belong to you,
God of the heavens and the blue earth too.”
Time to go back home, I waved good-bye
To the Lord God Above and the stars in the sky
Your wingless angel is now on call,
Don’t hesitate to leave a note on my wall.
I’ll check in the morn, I’ll check all day long,
To see if I can right somebody’s wrong.
And now the nighttime hushes my song.
