A poem portraying what it is like on the battlefield during a war and what it can do to your mind.
The thrill, the excitement, the adrenaline rush.
Something must be wrong with me.
What is this that I am feeling,
That I shouldn’t be happy about.
I cannot think straight,
With this weapon in my hand.
Why I am even here,
I do not know.
I’m sick, I’m tired,
But when I see the enemy,
Everything changes.
My eyes dilate,
Even though it is bright out here.
My skin starts to tingle,
And with all my might
I pull the trigger.
Countless bodies scattered,
Scattered all around the battlefield.
What am I fighting for
I do not know
But this is war
Either you fight or you go.
It’s either them
Or me.
