Can we, as human beings live without hope? Hope binds us to present and future expectations of change. Hope helps elevate our spirit, even when we experience the harshness of despair; life without hope is tantamount to mountains without snow, trees devoid of birds, eyes that see no beauty, and minds that think not of intellectual possibilities.
There is hope on this planet of sorrow,
As long as we hear the birds sing;
There is hope for a brighter tomorrow,
Arriving like blossoms in spring,
With the peal of significant triumph
Of liberty high on the wing.
There is hope on this planet of mourning,
As long as we heed the sad cry
Of those now afflicted and groaning,
Before they tragically die,
When sadly their pain becomes ours,
As we consciously not pass them by.
The world is full of the blessings
Of lovers who must always be there
With feelings that keep on progressing,
To ease the pangs of despair,
To lift up the fallen, downtrodden,
And take up the challenge to care.
There is hope in this world of disorder,
As long as flowers must bloom,
There is hope as horizons get broader,
In spite of the ominous gloom,
Within the fair limits of justice,
Outside the realm of doom.
