Poem about love.

I woke this morning to see the sun rise.

You’re still possessed by sleep, but I have captured my prize.

Looking out the window, the birds sing their praises to the morning.

I hear you fumbling behind me; the sun on your face like in my dream.

These days,

They won’t last forever.

These days,

Of love, wine and leather.

These days,

Pure as the sunshine.

These days,

They were so hard to find.

In all the lives I have lived, I’ve never felt as content as I do now.

A thousand years have we loved, but never voiced the sound.

Was I Joan of Ark, consumed by your happy flames?

An inferno we created, spectators witnessing our bane.

These days,

That we are together.

These days,

Of messy canter.

These days,

With the woes of a thousand sorrows.

These days

In the fight of the sparrow.
