My instant reaction to my son’s decision to enlist in the armed forces. He later changed his mind.

Seventeen years old my baby came to me…

He said, “Mama I want to be all that I can be…

Gonna join the gaurd, army, airforce or marines,

Fight for our flag and keep our country free…

It’s twenty thousand dollars the minute I sign..

I’ll get that new truck I want..It’s just a matter of time..

Don’t you worry about me mama… I’ll be just fine…

The war is nearly over I’ll never see the front line…

I’ve thought hard about it and it’s just what I need…

I’ll see the whole world!! They’ll make a man out of me…

They’ll make a man out of me… They’ll make a man out of me..

They’ll make a man out of me… Oh… they’ll make a man out of me

Barely six months in he’s on a plane to Iraq…..

I knew in my heart that he would never be back…

One month later they came to me.. On behalf of the United States Military..

They brought me a flag and all their Sympathy…

But they did not bring my boy back to me…

Now in my dreams He comes to me…

Says mama I want to be all that I can be…

I’ve thought about it and it’s just what I need..

I’ll see the whole world… They’ll make a man out of me

They’ll make a man out of me They’ll make a man out of me..

Oh… They’ll make a man out of me
