They’re Our Children

As adults, we are all responsible for raising the children. Parent or not, your job is to love and protect a child.

They say it takes a village

I say it takes the world

to raise each and every boy and girl

Every adult is responsible for protecting and correcting a child,

not neglecting, abusing or disrepecting a child

They need us

even though some act like they don’t

They will make great leaders

even though some act like they won’t

They are what dreams are made of

creative, imaginative and full of love

joyous, beautiful and wonderful

dependent and vulnerable

How can you as an adult not feel alive in their presence

It’s like everyday is our birthday

and they’re our presents.

We should take them under our wings

and teach them everything

how to dance and sing

how to read and write

how to unite and fight for what’s right

how to draw and build

It’s up to us to help them to develop these skills

Without children there is no forever

We must work together to make them better.

I agree with you. Children are the future and it is up to us to protect them in every way that we can. I am a mother of adult children and I have seven grandchildren. These grandchildren are the future. Children are a blessing and they need to know that they are. They need all of our love and encouragement.
I enjoyed reading your poem because there is much truth in it. Keep up your writing.

Don’t fall for the hype. It doesn’t take a village to raise a child; Look at nature and you see that for the most part it only takes an intelligent and nurturing mother.
