And their reasons for being

What picks them up?

Or lets them down

Their objectives and goals in life

Whether they want to be a husband or wife

Some folks tell me lies

Some do not know why

Some folks share their good deeds

By helping others and doing what others need

While other mislead and steal to survive

Things folks tell me vary in time and texture

As the things told me vary in nature

I listen and learn from the stories shared

Some I write down while others I tell

For everyone has a history to provide

This I feel we should not hide

If you wish to tell me I will listen

It is important to share internal secrets

Because it is my honor to hold their trust

Things folks tell me is not all about lust

The next time you tell someone something you wish to share

Remember a friend will listen and care

As I get older and wiser I hope

The things folks tell me will never get old
