How some things might be more frightening in the light of day.

I never worry about things that go bump in the night.
I simply roll over in bed and turn on the light.
Bumpy things can’t stand 60 watt light bulbs so they go away.
What scares me the most are things that go bump in the day.

When it’s daylight and something goes bump you wonder: what is it?
What makes an invisible thing come in the daytime to visit?
If they’d come in the dark I’d do things so they wouldn’t stay
But I really don’t  like it when something goes bump in the day.

When something goes bump in the night it’s likely the cat
Or maybe the dog who forgot where the footstool was at.
What you can’t see can’t hurt you, I heard some old people say
But what if I see something bad going bump in the day?

I brought home a big watch dog so I could sleep tight.
Watch you don’t trip on him or you’ll go bump in the night.
He sleeps rather soundly and I will have to say
He runs like a rabbit when something goes bump in the day.

It is scarier in the day, to hear things that go bump
specially when the sound comes from my son’s room

    A fun and playful read.

I borrowed a line from an author I read years ago, and yelled out at the kids when things went bump: “Pick up your socks!” Guaranteed, that would break up the “bump” because three kids will always have a sock or two out of place.
