Usually that applies to an old house settling or even your cat playing with what she shouldn’t.
When Peggy and Martin was given this house they though life would be perfect. Little did they know it came with a few temporary surprises.

Things That Go Bump In The Night
Peggy and Martin was in love with the house,
a wedding present from his mom and dad.
It was built to last them their whole lifetime,
even raise children in when they had them.
*****
It had nine rooms and even a big nursery,
its large windows would let the light in.
The rooms themselves was spacious,
room enough to raise a huge family.
****
Peggy and Martin moved in soon after,
while lace curtains was hung up quickly.
All their possessions followed them,
they finally had a place to call home.
*****
But Peggy got pregnant in late April,
they were ecstatic at having a new baby.
It should have been a happy time for them,
but that’s when all the problems started.
****
It was then that the strange things started,
keys appeared and then disappeared again.
Peggy would hear tapping on the walls,
but found no one when checking it out.
*****
The phone would ring of the hook all day,
but no one was on the other line if picked up.
She even heard a few strange voices also,
sees shadows out of the corners of her eyes.
****
Peggy saw saw a ghost of a confederate soldier,
more then once Indians made themselves known.
Even a cowboy of another era would show up,
always standing by a big oak tree in their yard.
*****
Whispering could be heard in the dark am hours,
telling Peggy that there was danger very near her.
Take her husband and baby away from the house,
to dig up the land from the house to the old oak tree.
******
Desperate to soothe his very pregnant upset wife,
Martin agreed to have the digging done next week.
He didn’t believe that there was anything happening,
but he also didn’t want to lose his wife or unborn baby.
*****
Martin then hired someone to do the required job,
what they found shocked Martin as well as Peggy.
They found that their gas pipe to the house leaking,
also finding several skeletons with guns and arrows.
.****
The pipe was fixed and the skeletons are still there,
Peggy didn’t have the heart to move them anywhere.
She had her twin sons on a cold January evening,
they named the twin boys Martin Jr and Jeremy.
****
As a way of saying thank you for their warnings,
Peggy put a fence around the oak trees base.
A water fountain and flowers are there presently,
that way the skeletons wont get disturbed again.
****
For Martin and Peggy has to thank the many spirits,
for without them they could have easily been dead.
The house has been quiet since the pipe was fixed,
the persistent spirits did what they had come to do.

And they lived happily ever after I hope, because I like that one with a bit of mistique and respect for the dead.

Excellent storytelling, Payge. So Peggy got pregnant, did she? Was it the bed headboard that used to go bump in the night?
