Every time you daydream.
For thirty seconds,
close your eyes.
for thirty seconds more
imagine that the fires burning
are really on your floor
your toes alight, and crisping black
the shock runs up your spine
split second storms of searing senses
each frozen still in time
For thirty seconds,
close your eyes.
for thirty seconds more
Your wings are free and you can fly
Soar, now! Burst through the door!
The sun upon your now-bare back
the warmth of newfound dawn
leaps lazily along your laughing legs
never gone for long.
For thirty seconds,
close your eyes.
For thirty seconds more
You’ve lived and loved and lied to friends,
and done your best to make amends
and then, despite the clearest trends,
A lady looks at you and sighs,
for thirty seconds, at your eyes-
In thirty seconds, live your lives:
But when you open up your eyes,
Everything you’ve lived?
It dies.
