Italics for emphasis.

Periodical periods for the purpose of pausing.

The alliteration, maybe more than mere happenchance –

But don’t go in for the overkill.

After all,

This is just a poem.

But if this were some stranger (almost familiar)

Who had crept into your covers in your sleep (won’t let you sleep)

Then you should bash his head in (or become best of buddies)

But then again,

This is just a poem…
