At some point in time, a poet or poetess tries to duplicte a successful poem. This is my attempt to do that. I had many people read my poem "This is You", which was written by me on this site on October 6, 2008 of last year. See if you see a resemblance in the two pieces to tell me, if you would, please.

“This is Us”

Pull me into your arms once more

I won’t count, who’s keeping score?

Kiss my lips until you take my breath away

Hold me very close to you, for another day.

Teach me what you want me to know

Tell it to me gently and so very slow.

Whisper to me, softly in my ear

All the promises I want so much to hear.

Protect me with your wantonness, to stay

So bliss can be yours and mine every single day.

Sing your words as you used to do

Smiling in between the stanzas as you did too.

Forgive me all my faults as you know them to be

So all our tomorrows can be lived so happily.

Respect me now and evermore

Don’t ever close our relationship door.

Give me something to trust in all you do

Without it our lives, surely won’t be brand new.

I has little resemblance to the other poem but the same inspiring lines of someone under love’s spell. A great poem as always, Rob.

Well written poem. You’d make a good song lyricist. A song lyric is about 16 to 20 lines or more of lines from the heart
as opposed to a poem which is from the brain “traditionally”.
A good tunesmith around is everything for songwriters.
