This is a poem about a doubting thomas, the man who has recurred in mankind time and time again since the year 33 A.D..

THOMAS AGAIN

If I could only watch You, Lord,

Hang rainbows in the blue

Or see You plant a buttercup

And baptize it with dew

If I could only see Your hands

Place petals on a rose

Or hang a star in Heaven

When day comes to a close

If I could only see You heal

A sparrow’s broken wing

Or see You paint the winter woods

With its first coat of spring

This tangled mind would find the peace

You meant for us to know

When You designed young Adam

Millenniums ago

Doubts creep in no matter what we do. Back to the bible I go, and re-charge me batteries for the next round.

Beautifully expressed, Louis, and a poignant reminder that we are not so different after all – or alone. Thank you.

It’s amazing to me that doubting Thomas’ story has recycled from generation to generation…but for someone who may have temporarily lost his faith, it’s been said that he got as far as India with the message of god. Very nice descriptions.

A nicely constructed poem with some beautiful imagery.
