I should think a few of us can relate to this experience.

Oh dear, I’m standing here

With my new jeans round my knees,

And no matter how I wriggle about

They seem a very tight squeeze.

As I’m not one to give up

To stretch the denim I must try,

But with gravity my enemy

On the floor I have to lie.

I twist and grunt and shuffle

Until I’m feeling rather hot.

The jeans are almost there

But now I’m in a spot.

I need to get up vertical

Which proves to be a trial,

But after suffering great torture

I am standing with a smile.

Taking in a great big breath

The button finally does close,

But the large expanse of flesh above

Just adds to all my woes.

And frustration taking over

I flop down into a chair,

As a loud rip from beneath me

Shows up a very large tear.

    Jeans are your enemy
    Jeans are my friends
    Sometimes they bring
    For us nice comments

    Excellent poem,Christine

  • fishfry aka Elizabeth Figueroa on Sep 2, 2011

I could not have said it better. I had done that in my earlier years, I bent over in public, and rip right across my butt.

    Great Poem I love it.

  • pattiann on Sep 2, 2011

I loved it! I never wear jeans, but can imagine how hard it must be. My problem is I am so short I have to get pants hemmed or wear petites and even petites are too long sometimes!

  • iloisabel on Sep 2, 2011

It’s a lesson to learn, everytime we buy jeans we should make sure that the size is fit for us or if we have old jeans and it doesn’t fit anymore then that’s a sign that we need to lose weight. Nice poem Miss Christine I love it!

  • Eunice Tan on Sep 2, 2011

My mind went back in time when I had similar experiences and my younger brother would come to my aid…every time they got stuck.

  • Starpisces on Sep 2, 2011

hahaha, hats off to you, Christine, really love the way you write poems, well explained, rhyme well and also humorous, just like this one.
I usually wear bermudas shorts, more comfortable. :)

  • Bruce Officer on Sep 2, 2011

If it starts to get you down, then maybe you should look into jean therapy! (groan)

“I remember, I remember the pants I used to wear…Some were big enough for two, some were tight enough to tear.”

Sigh. Seems like they just keep making jeans smaller these days. ;)

  • LoveDoctor on Sep 2, 2011

I really like the rhythm and flow of this one. It’s cute and funny at the same time. I have a problem finding jeans myself. I don’t fit into skinny jeans because my thighs and legs have too much muscle, my waist is small but from my hips up there’s too much cushion. lol. Then the ones that fit nice are too low on the back so when you sit down it’s a problem

  • papaleng on Sep 2, 2011

I can picture your predicament Christine. But i have the other way around problem, most of my jeans are too loose for me..

  • FX777222999 on Sep 2, 2011

Some have this problem too…others done it with ease.

  • CA Johnson on Sep 2, 2011

This is really good. It made me laugh even though it is a problem. Thanks for giving me such a laugh with this poem and I am sorry to hear about your jeans issues. :)

  • Ruby Hawk on Sep 2, 2011

LOL, Christine, that’s so funny, although a problem. I found a pair of jeans that fit me perfectly and I wear them everywhere I go.

  • LCM Linda on Sep 2, 2011

Your lovely write reminds me how I have struggled to put on a pair of jeans. I didn’t make it, only up to one third of your poem. Yours was good try.

  • Phoenix Montoya on Sep 2, 2011

Ha ha, really cute Christine. Been there too and I tried my best to really make it work but after awhile, I decided it is not worth it.

  • Joe Ram on Sep 2, 2011

  • Suni51 on Sep 3, 2011

Nice description of your enemy, I am sure they will be friendly soon.

  • Val Mills on Sep 3, 2011

Oh my, Christine, I was trying to imagine you there lying on the floor struggling! I no longer wear jeans, preferring material that stretches with me!

  • Freethinking on Sep 4, 2011

Oh the old jean problem is not only universal, but the lack of give knows no difference between male and female.

  • galore on Sep 4, 2011

    LOL interesting

  • Tulan on Sep 4, 2011

Funny,Christine, I’ve had the same problem. I stretch our full length on the bed and pull them up inch by inch. It usually works.

  • Christine Ramsay on Sep 5, 2011

Thank you so much for all your comments but I’ll let you into a secret. I don’t really wear jeans anymore. I saw a picture of someone struggling into their jeans and thought it would make a good poem, lol.

  • No Share on Sep 5, 2011

hahaha… its safe to say that your secret is safe with us.=) great poem Christine!

  • Atanacio on Sep 7, 2011

I gave up wearing jeans a few years back – too uncomfortable. Great poem.

  • LadyElena on Sep 9, 2011

Oh… I blame the designers. lol. They don’t make them comfy anymore…

    Lovely Poem.

  • Brewed Coffee on Sep 12, 2011

I still wear jeans… I know I won’t fit in those jean I wore back in college lol! I was very skinny then. Your poem is really amusing. It captures the struggle and frustration… :-)

  • Brewed Coffee on Sep 12, 2011

    *jeans

  • Erin Miller on Sep 12, 2011

Loved it! Damn jeans can be a nuisance at times. lol

  • Socorro Lawas on Sep 13, 2011

Sometimes I also freak out trying to fit into my jeans.

  • Adrn0919 on Oct 6, 2011

When it comes to new jeans I ask my husband for help. He still doesn’t understand why I go through such trials to wear a pear of jeans. To ease my suffering I lost 16 pounds so I don’t have to lay on the bed when zipping my jeans. Good article I can relate.

  • yes me on Oct 13, 2011

Brought a smile on here Christine cheers

  • Lisa Marie Mottert on May 9, 2012
