Why does the rain make us feel so much more alone when separated from the one we love?

Image via Wikipedia

Listening to the rain beating steadily

Upon the roof, hoping

The sound will drown out thoughts of you

Or gusting winds will sweep away

Desire to be where I cannot go

A tear forms in my eye

Soon they stream down my face

As the many droplets on my window

Longing overtakes me

Wanting to be where my heart lies

With you

Miles from where I now sit

Thunder rolling reminding me

Of the turmoil brewing inside me

How can I be stuck here

In a rain-soaked, dreary place

Engulfed in a storm of loneliness

When the one I need so desperately

Patiently waits for me

Under the shelter of love

Ps. “He makes all things Beautiful in His time”.

I’m guessing you can read b/w the lines. :)
