Are your superstitions getting in the way of your personal happiness and transformation into a happy life? Are your collective superstitions and prejudices getting in the way of Humanity’s evolution? Three simple steps can begin to take you out of this trap. First, admit the silliness of these superstitions and break two or more of the taboos imposed by them. Here is a poem I wrote about this subject.

A broken mirror is not your enemy.

Your enemies are your superstitions.

Old wives tales,

and ancient restrictions,

like a rope around your neck,

constricting,

your personal evolution,

constricting,

our species evolution.

Adopt a black cat,

walk under a ladder,

and live happily ever after.

nice of you to include telling folks to adopt a black cat, sadly they are one of the least adoptable colors (along with solid white).

Filipinos have too many superstitions. :)

my favorite two colors of cats are solid black and solid white. Black is also my favorite chin color!

I guess it’s not only Filipinos that have embraced superstitions, nice post.

I love black cats, had two of them and I go out of my way to walk under ladders just to see what happens, I like to push my luck!

I too often walk under ladders while figuratively thumbing my nose at superstition, and have just adopted a cat (although he is tabby and white but I couldn’t hold that against him) Nice entry for the challenge,

I do anything to test superstitions…..and I’m still around to tell the tale!

Mark, I like that. I agree we should confront our fears. They usually vanish right away.

Hehehe – indeed superstitions are a silly thing – although SOME have some reasonable origins. I generally don’t walk under ladders, because things fall from ladders all to often. I don’t leave shoes on the table becuase it is unhygienic. Good article Mark. Thanks for playing again.

Nicely put together, and a humorous look at some of the silly things we unconciously make important.

Definitely worth a try. Sometimes those who walk the road less traveled makes it to a better place.
