Poem by William Swafford.
Staying up through the night,
Just to be the first to see the sunlight.
Eyes slowly closing,
Only to quickly re-open.
Eyes closed only brings pain.
What was that song my grandma used to sing?
Don’t even know the reasons why,
The reasons why I can’t close my eyes.
Things on my mind.
Why…That would be too kind.
So if you see me out walking at night,
Don’t be quick to take fright.
I’ll only be up,
Be up till that first light.
