I run, run, run so fast because I hope to leave the ugly within me.

I run.
I run so fast I can barely see
and I can barely hear
the music that beats like a drum in my ear
to the cricks in my crackled heart.
I fly.
My feet grumble off the ground
hating the gravity,
loving the moments our body
in the sky.
I run, run, run so fast
because I hope to leave the ugly within me behind.
I hope it’s too dark and heavy
to keep up, to fly.
So I run, run, run so fast
and in those moments I have paradise.
I almost leave it all behind.
The faster I run, the more fierce my eyes.
The longer my stride, the more focused my gaze.
And the world continues to turn
but I leave it all behind, I only sometimes am remind.
The black surrounds me as the tragedy of my mind
and so I run at night. I do not fear.
Nothing can scare me—do you not know what I mean?
Nothing out there is worse than in here.
Let me run facing the wind,
no strength in my legs
but my mind is strong.
Give in she says.
Give up she says.
I do not want to live, she feels.
Here.
But she dreams of paradise.
I am here, I do not stop….when I run.
Run, run run, she whispers.
And I run.
