Growing older and realising you have!

Maybe in the quiet calm of the evenings ebb and flow
Idle minds drift to thoughts back of a younger day
Back, back to a time when the world was an open door
And the road of possibility offered many-a different way

Back when time was just a word and future just a haze
With dreams that fell short of positive want or will
They stayed at my side and very rooted to the spot
And the world moved on, while I and they stayed very still

Dreams were for dreamers to longingly ponder
To place your hopes on indefinable uncertainty
I lived only for the moment and only in the moment
While damming dreams as whimsical flights of fancy

Yes, time was but a word and time could wait
I’d catch that demon up somewhere along the way
Back when time stretched out like an endless sky
Back when the world was but a younger day

But time is the one thing there’s no getting back
And now we slowly amble where we once did run
For the world is no longer that younger day
How too soon your time is spent; your day is gone

This is so true, another deep poem, I like the line \’time is the one thing there\’s no getting back\’

Very true, but on the bright side I think there are a lot more oppurtunites to help in dealing with the transition to more mature years!!

Very crafty you are Mr. Steve. This evokes childhood memories for me. A child is not yet poisoned by the evils of the world, A childs dreams are what makes the creativity come to life as adults. Time is just a word. It all depends on how you spend it brother. Really deep piece and can be interpreted in different perspectives. You show a crafty thought process within your creative prose. Really enjoying your style which displays consistency and raw power. Thumbs up!

Sadly honest! Time waits for no person no matter what!

This has got me thinking now! I need time to stop for just a little while, I need time to wait!

Perhaps we humans are too busy pursuing reason and science to really appreciate life and reality..your thoughts are completely universal bud :-)

ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD
When we’re old, let’s sit in wicker chairs, one next to the other, by an old
brick wall. We can watch cars go by, children play, dogs bark, leaves fall.
We’ll have all the time in the world. To ourselves, for each other, for the
    world. ~ ANON

Time is fleeting. One should always dream a little.
