To initiate change, we have to look at things in a different way.

Life is not all black and white,
it’s muddled up with gray.
Sometimes it’s not wrong or right,
it’s just a different way.
Sometimes in life
the lines extend
way outside the box.
The life you live,
the message you send
is not as you had thought.
You can be imprisoned
in a jail that has no bars,
stand right next
to the one you love,
yet feel so very far.

You can’t see
if you don’t look,
it takes more
than just a glance.
The more things change,
well…
the more things change.
It’s time to learn a new dance.

At times it seems impossible
to keep up the grueling pace,
trying so hard,
you fall behind,
a loser at this race.

Perhaps it’s time
you take the time,
to slow it down a bit.
Ask yourself
what you’re looking for,
then go ahead and find it.

Ach! Don’t talk to me about change! I have been through so much of it of late I think I am resigned to the fact that it’s normal.

Thanks for the insights. You have to keep moving! Love it. Best. j

I think that we all need time to stand back and really see what we need to do. Not easy in this day and age. An inspiring read.

Change is what it’s all about. Now I’m off to find my magic wand and change myself into a crisp new £20 note and spend it all on me. I do hope it’s not too windy outside …

The only thing constant is change. It is our natural flow in order to grow. Wonderfully expressed.

“a loser at this race.” “what you’re looking for,
then go ahead and find it.”

These are two very powerful statements. I often feel this way. Thank you for the poem

great poem I loved the way you express the thought that there’s more out there than what meets the eye. I can’t stand it when people can not see beyond their own plate.

I agree, most of us have a day job we have to work hard at but when we go home we should slow down and relax with our family. Look within instead of without.

That is what I call as self-acceptance. That is very much needed if we want to bring change.

  • Fornis on Mar 5, 2009

I will look forward to more such poems on self-development..
