Life Lesson: Never make someone a priority who sees you only as an option.

Sitting, waiting for a call that never comes

My whole day shot

I was willing to be an afterthought

Once all of your more important appointments

With more important people

Were over and done

Would you remember your promise

To see me today

To spend that time you once thought

So special and invaluable

Now pushed into the dark recesses

Of your mind, a forgotten file taken out

Occasionally dusted off

At your convenience

In the meantime I wait

Having made no plans, I wanted to be

Available to you should I be needed

But this day was simply time wasted

That I can never reclaim

The only bright spot being

I now know exactly where I stand

Hmmmmmmh, I can relate to this. Tough times call for tough decisions.

It is frustrating when people don’t value your time I hope the person makes this up to you.

That is so sad, Ashan, but I think we have all been there at some time. At least you got a wonderful poem out of the day.

Hi Andrea, Thanks for the inner glimpse at your disappointment. Time promised and then withdrawn for no good reason is hurtful and insulting, and your lines evoke your feelings beautifully. As you say, at least you know where you stand now, and I suppose there could be some catharsis in capturing the experience in a creative work of poetry for others to share. Great writing! Kindest regards, Kevin.

You know the answer – but you are not alone. Many women make this mistake.

I think we have all been in the spot you wrote about. How foolish we feel after waiting for someone that obviously does not feel the same way about us. Life goes on and hopefully we all learn from these moments and in the long run it really is not wasted time.

Time is a precious thing. Never spend it on wasted things that lack reciprocation. Yes, we all have been there. Keep an open mind, but never let it happen again. Nice share!
