The pathetic plight of teenagers as parents.

Young parents
There was a time when the parents,
Played a significant role,
In the upbringing and well being,
Of their progeny, on the whole

As times change, we all also do,
And essentially change it is just not strange.
Now we have so many kinds of kids,
A whole variety of them we bid.
Like these are my kids, those are hers,
The ones there are her Ex’s,
And we have two of our own,
And another is in the pipe line,
But none of the dozen, we can disown.

Well all said and done, its all okay,
But they are teenagers, amongst these kids,
Who have nothing in common,
With each other,
Except perhaps a common genetic,
Father or mother

‘Well that much said about our kids.’

Who will impart them with some basic sexual training?
Not my responsibility eh,
The elder parents do this say.
Then what happens, when a girl a teenager,
Is taken away from Miami Beach,
And another younger teenager,
Becomes a blushing mother in UK,
Now a day,
What have you to say.

All are grown up sexually,
But what sexual prevention,
Must these youthful teenagers care,
Who will this responsibility share.

The teachers say no, not at any rate,
The parents do not communicate,
Then the kids will do nothing else,
But simply and openly copulate.

When they themselves are kids,
Why do senior parents feel shy?
To discuss what they should,
Or shouldn’t do and tell them why,
And what not, before the youngsters say,
We are the fathers of that one kid, today.

Now what was the girl experimenting,
At the young age with boys so many,
Below her very young age,
Who will now the responsibility share,
Or be held responsible this stage.

Parents please do not neglect your duty,
As you enjoy yourselves and remarry.
Tell the kids, yours, hers and ours,
How to spend those boring hours,
Save hanging around and sexing around,
At this young and impressionable age

Please all parents do take all kids under your care,
Of duty, and definite responsibility,
In bringing up your children, as a duty,
Be they yours, hers,
Or common genes they share.

A great observation, but a sad reflection on society. It is such a shame the neglect that is happening around us. Thank you for sharing this insight, well written x

Thanks for this responsible piece. I started my girls\’ education on how babies are made when they were just in preschool (of course with children\’s stories and all). Their real sex education formally began at the age of 11. Now I see these have done them so much good.

I share the same concern as you. It is a shocking fact that a teenage should have kid of their own.

This is a very real concern.

Yeah it’s really important to be there for your kids and really teach them common sense and that every action has a consequence.

Yes, very true…my friend in high school got pregnant and I hate to think of what might have happened if her parents and I had not stood by her…
