A poem that voices the physical, emotional, and psychological aspects familiar to the runner.
Oh what an odd combination
Agony, yet exhileration
Pain, but there is pleasure
A feeling of elation mixed with terror
As the lungs scream out of starvation
And the legs beg, yea plead for a seconds rest
For maybe that would be enough to keep from falling in a heap of spent mucle and worne bone
And the lonely willpower trying, agains all odds, to keep from showing them that the worst is yet to come
