This is about the famed St Patrick’s day Parade in New York City, whereby everyone wears the green on that day to be part of the celebration.
Dressed then in Green or Irish Lace
Upon the street, some painted face
There’s drummers drumming out the tunes
With children’s smiles with green balloons
Where on the street, the people cheer
As many wave or raise a beer
But, truth be known, upon this day
St Patrick drove the snakes away
Let rosy cheeks then draw the crowd
As bagpipes play the music loud
Within the march, they all then say
How proud they are upon this day
Though your people may not be
Still come out, witness the green
For I have heard so many say
They wish to be Irish if just for this day
