Then and now.
when i was a lad about fourteen twas the prettiest town you have ever seen
you could go downtown late at night and see the glimmer of the shimmering lights
the lights were lit on theater row but that was a long long time ago
not much to see now after dark just seagate center and promenade park
now do you think that you and i could do one thing before we die
do you think we could restore the beauty that was here before
like take the banks off the middleground bring some theaters back downtown
put some affordable cafes back bring back stores like tiedtkes and jacks
we had it all at our front door in this city on the maumee shores
folks would come from miles around and rave about our wonderful town
our city fathers sure must see how great it was for you and me
we always wore a golden crown in this once great city toledo town
