I wrote this in relation to thinking about the war going on, and wars in the past.
Within the piece, I sort of created a fictional charcter. He has a wife and and a couple of kids. He represents the story, as he is the one telling it.
The dream will last forever,
as we’re stuck in nasty weather.
And I’ll never walk again,
because tonight I’ll fly away.
Tonight we’ll promise the rank below relief,
but how can we comply if we’re being shot down by the enemy?
Tonight we’ll think of our sons and daughters,
as we’re gasping for air in the desert.
The dream will last forever,
as we’re weightless like a feather.
And I’ll never swim again,
because tonite I’ll fly away, into my wife’s dreams.
Tonight we’ll promise the rank below us hope,
but how can we comply with their dreams of going home?
Tonight we’ll think of our aunts and uncles,
as we’re drowning in the bay.
Tonite we die asleep . . .
