A poem by William Swafford.
It’s deep inside me somewhere.
It might be too deep.
Whatever the case,
Its mine to keep.
I can’t tell what it is.
Can it be a feeling of fear?
Sometimes it creeps,
And raises its teeth.
I get so bad,
I can’t even eat.
I’m not hiding it,
It’s just there.
I can’t reach in,
Underneath my skin.
It might be too deep,
But it’s mine too keep.
