Toothache can make life miserable. Whether in the form of continuous throbbing pain or sharp stabbing suddenly when we eat or drink. All these symptoms indicate, one of our teeth are not healthy as it should. That is, the time to visit a dentist and examined.
But many people try to put off a visit to the dentist (with a variety of reasons). Actually this is not wise, because the sooner the cause of toothache is known, the sooner your teeth can be treated.
Our teeth are protected by a hard outer surface (enamel) and underneath there is a layer called the dentin. Plaque that forms on our teeth reacting with sugary foods that cause acid – which then erodes the enamel on our teeth and cause decay.
Decay is a major source of tooth pain. If teeth are not regularly cleaned of plaque, the acids that erode enamel was too long can result in a hole – which can grow large. Finally, the hole can reach the dental pulp cavity in the tooth and cause an infection as a whole. Including tooth supporting tissues.
Therefore, visiting your dentist is very important for two reasons. First, so your dentist can see and clean the plaque that accumulate. Second, that the dentist can detect cavities early on, and patch it before getting a big and serious.
In the meantime, what can you do to prevent toothache?
Cleaning the plaques that accumulate
The best way to clean the plaque is by brushing your teeth regularly. You should brush your teeth twice a day (after meals and before bed). Most dentists will also recommend that you use dental floss regularly as well.
Avoiding snacks and sugary drinks
This is the kind of foods and beverages that react with the plaque on your teeth to cause the acid. By avoiding sugary foods and drinks, the formation of cavities can be avoided.
Remember, pain is a warning sign of our body that something is wrong in the body. This applies also for toothache.
But do not also wait until the new toothache you visit the dentist. Visit your dentist regularly (at least every six months), so that your oral health can be examined
