I recently discovered that a co-worker has been doing his level best to try to make me look bad in the eyes of our mutual supervisor. I knew the guy was a “tool”; young, cocky, very arrogant and more knowledgeable than all those around him (in his own mind). However, I never thought he would sink so low. I’m guessing he believes if he can weed out everyone who is senior to him in experience and/or years with the company, then he will soon be in charge (as he fully believes he should be).

What he doesn’t realize though, is that in taking me on he picked the WRONG one! Not only am I a strong woman, but I am a child of the King.

1 Chronicles 16:21-22 (King James Version)

He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes,

Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm.

Try as you might to destroy me

Or even to paint me in your unflattering light

Your subterfuge is less than subtle

Your way to deflect negative attention from yourself

But it rolls off my back

It will do you no good

For it is written that no weapon formed

Against me shall prosper

He has built a hedge all around me

Even when you seem victorious

It all works out for my good

I am a child of the King

Anointed by His Spirit to do His will

To be a light upon a hill

Even in this place

Your ill intentions will come

Back to you a hundred-fold

For He has said

Touch not my anointed

And do my prophet no harm

I’ve met one or two people like this in my working life. Given enough rope they usually Hang Themselves. Keep the faith.

I really like this poem. I’m sorry that your coworker is so shady. You are handling it very well. Thanks for sharing.

There is one at every job….,sometimes two or three. Consider yourself fortunate that only one exist in your environs.

I always focus on doing the best I can do and being a good worker. If anything beyond that is needed I leave it in God\’s hands and if I lose the gig, then it wasn\’t ideal for you anyway.

Hope he reads this and finally learns to respect his able colleague.

Very nicely expressed, your strength comes from a source he may be ignorant about. He only sees the physical while you see the spiritual.

Let me add to that…Isaiah 54:15.”If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you”.
Psalms 121: 3 – end. He never sleeps nor slumbers….and even more Psalm 2:1-6…He fights for His own. So kick back and relax…He will yet come through. Nice rendition too.

Thanks to all of you who have read and commented. It is the general consensus among me and my other colleagues that this guy will eventually hang himself if given enough rope. I am by no means his first victim and everyone in my department (and the company really) has had just about enough. What he fails to understand, I think, is there is no way to have longevity in this field (which involves a lot of interdisciplinary teamwork) if you tick off everyone you come in contact with.
