A Poem.
Toxic Hope and Poison Optimism
Toxic hope and poison optimism seep into my blood
I try to shut it out, but you keep poking holes in my armor
As though on a drug, I feel the medicinal relief until reluctantly,
You turn on the vacuum and suck all of that beautiful toxicity and poison out
Of my body and leave me with the emptiness
Of a hollow soul
Again…
And again…
And again…
I thicken the armor and add on a shield, but
No matter how many layers of stone and metal I add
You still puncture it with your tiny needles of good intentions and
Allow the toxic hope and poison optimism to run through my veins
Again…
