Transport of Jewish people to Lublin in 1940.

We gathered together
like gypsy travelers
…under the canopies
of the Sankt Matthias
and like a mirror
looking inwards
she knew this
was our final hour-
like Alice in the
looking glass of time-
no salvation, no hiding
could save us
and why not ?
she asked later
did I not do more?
Plagued by her own
paralysis she watched
numbers listed and
passports stamped
with the greatness
of Nazi order
tears marked her
early grave as she
too was captured
within the confines
of space and time.
