Poem about a man trapped in No Man’s Land.

I walked into No Man’s Land.

It was deathly quiet.

No birds chirping.

No coyotes howling.

No trees swaying.

No squirrels giggling.

No skunks deodorizing.

No angry drivers screaming.

Just silence.

And there was sand;

Mounds and mounds of sand.

As far as the eye could see,

There was sand,

And one little girl.

She smiled broadly at me.

She gave me a wink.

She gave me a drink.

I thanked her for her kindness.

Suddenly, she vanished.

I was alone again;

Trapped in an illusion.
