Poem about a tree.

Here I stand in awe, alone by the waters edge, I’m not very tall, not very small…

Birds rest in my branches, I listen to them sing, here they eat their lunches, its such a beautiful thing…

For the insects on the ground, I’m a shade from the sun, happily they go around, eating and having fun…

Little children come by, they always come and go, happily they jump and fly, from me into the waters below…

Young lovers come to woo, carve a heart into my bark, leave their initials too, they stay until its dark…

Old folks come and sit, to watch the sunset, some are still quite fit, do more than just sit…

Dogs look at me with glee, puffing as they lean against me, raise their leg in salute, water my trunk and roots…

Some think I’m just a tree, but there is more to me, I cause no harm or strife, I’m a tree of life
