This poem was inspired after a party at a friend’s house. Everyone was leaving at the same time, so there was a line of cars going down the street, and it made me think that even though we were on the same road, we were heading in different directions in life.
We’re moving at warp speed, Mr. Sulu
Pulling out, one by one
The car tires sliding against the icy road
While snow hurtles at the windshield
Like streaks of molten stars
Flashing past the USS Enterprise
And like the snow we fly forward
Never looking back
Never questioning
Our enjoyment in our young lives
