My dear Trey, I hope that you know that you were the inspiration for me to write many poems about you. I admired your courage when in the face of death you battled your disease with a fervor that did not stop until you breathed your last today.

I know that you knew your precious wife was beside you holding you as you held her finger. Your mother held the other hand as you breathed your last breath. The beloved child you share with your wife and all of us is becoming a man at age eight. Can I say to you that you were our gift and a miracle.

I pray you know just how much you wer loved and how your voice will always echo within our hearts. For now you are singing with better angels. That is as it should be.

Jessica, dear sweet child whose smile lit up the classrooms. You will not be forgotten and your lesson has been learned. So we leave to better angels those questions that we have. You accomplished in your short life probably more than the most famous does in all of their earthly years.

I believe that we are the better person for you graced our presence with your sheer inner beauty. Such is the life of one who was born disabled but was so able in many ways. To the both of you I wish Godspeed to your heavenly home. Surely we must all strive to join in the song with sweet accord. So it is goodbye Trey and Jessica. We will miss you always.
