My mom is in a Nursing Home now, taking a hit for the team. This poem says some of what there is to be said about that.
In a world of unfairness, in a world of despair
You know you fit in but you just don’t know where
With your pink and black sneakers, they’re lost just like you—
And your watch, and your dignity—now they’re all gone too….
They don’t hear what you’re saying, they don’t look at your face—
Or else they would know you need out of this place
The pain and the heartache’s just too hard to see—
I know that because it’s just too hard for me….
They ignore all your needs still, despite all your tries
They go on with their business, won’t look in your eyes—
They have broken your spirit—they’ve knocked out your fight
And you ask and you ask how’d you get in this plight?
But I know that you’ve lived now through all kinds of weather
And I know you’ll rise up from this stronger than ever!
I love you mom and I’m sorry.
