The words of small talk and gossip that are important inspite of being irrelevant.

Commonplace words uttered in mundane existence

Just to pass the lethargic stagnant hours

Walking in a creeping gait, dozing off at times

Or to stage a nascent introduction

To cut into the the spread aura of hesitation

Words spoken just to adhere to the norms

Of suitability or to those of social expectations

Words that are meaningless and worthless

That have neither weightage nor substance

Those that rise above as rainbow hued bubbles

That burst and are lost into oblivion

They are but essential almost vital

They lighten the atmoshere

Small talk can adulterate preoccupation

Harmless gossip spices up insipid hours of life

Diluting the sentiments of dejected sadness

Lulling the person into a sense of normalcy

Like the stars that try to reduce

The suffocating darkness of the raven night

Theyare honest but insignificant words

Wods spoken to enhance the verbal volume

Cause if only meaningful words were spoken

Then the world would be a silent arena

Silent as the grave…

That’s a very thought-provoking write. I have little doubt that the majority of utterances would fit your trifling category and without them, how quiet it would be. I haven’t had anything important to say for years.
