The experiences of two people of different cultures who fall in love.

One look at you and I tripped
Then tumbled deep into the pit of love
“Won’t you come down and sit next to me?”
But you liked the sun and it was much too deep
“Climb up to me where the air is warm,” you said
But I could not make it for the slope was too steep
So we met in the middle-
The sun in our eyes and your smile in my heart

It’s your smile that makes my world spin
Heals my scars, and melts my heart.
Your eyes reflect the world from which you came
Much more exotic than my blue suburban life
Yours is a rich, rich brown, a wealth of history.
I could tell the sun had loved you far me than me
Your skin must be covered in a thousand kisses
Maybe someday I could kiss you too…

Just for now we’ll gaze at clouds
And dream of one day floating away
But I’ll hold your hand so you won’t leave without me
What if tradition calls you back home…
What if ambition pulls me away?

We dipped our toes in unfamiliar water
And then decided to dive right in
If there are consequences to love
We will remain unafraid and unashamed
For there is nothing more innocent or true
Than blending our lives together
As I tumble deeper in love with you!
