When we were dating, we would often play Trivial Pursuit. Here’s how I proposed and how we both won.
There was a year in our courtship
When she was here and I was in New York.
To visit her, I’d take a monthly trip,
For if I hadn’t, I’d just go berserk.
I realized that she was just the one
I wanted to be with eternally,
And I worked hard, her hand I finally won.
There was no doubt she was the one for me
When we would meet, our fav’rite game to play
Was Trivial Pursuit, a lot of fun,
And with that game we’d often end the day.
It really didn’t matter much who won.
So one time when I came to visit her,
I stacked the deck with well disguised game cards.
To draw the special cards, my plan was sure
To work. I knew that it would melt her heart.
After a few questions, I was anxious.
She drew the card most unsuspectingly:
“Dear will you marry me? Oh please say yes!”
She laughed and cried, then said she’d marry me!
You know that life’s not Trivial Pursuit
That years of work can often come undone
We need to focus, or the point is moot
But in this marriage game, we both have won.
