A turquoise.

  If all the turquoise
Was gone from this Earth,
That would be fine
As long as I had us.

Some stones,
Minerals, flowers,
Or sunsets come close
But I’m certain I’d be fine
Without them
As long as I had us.

And if I didn’t have us,
God, Allah, Yahweh forbid,
I’d see amethyst rings
And the biggest sunflowers
And not bat an eyelash
Before I thought of us.

Diamonds aren’t worth cutting
Unless they’re put to gold
And around your finger,
But both are almost passé
As long as I had us.
