Funny life is it not.
T’was like only yesterday we met
Wandering barefoot on the sandy shore of life
Tripping over each other in the same pothole
Perplexed and not in control of our own selves
Broken marriages along with the broken hearts
Putting up our own walls of defence against the future
Misery in its first throws, and vowed no repeats
Not a bouncing accident waiting to happen
More an invisible knowledge that fingers could not pin down to a fact
Undefined yet known
Not wanting the pain or turmoil, each retreated behind the wall
Ducking beneath the palisades at the merest hint of a breach
It took a year or more discovering it was the same wall we were both hiding behind
The breaches we imagined were fates fingers prising without effort
Time has passed and the passion of being together has not waned
Not a hiccup along the way
I realise that yesterday is an eternity away
Each day now a new beginning of a new adventure
T’was like, only yesterday we met
