Lost loves.

Alone, late on a cold winters night,at the lake
Feeling the majic in this journey,I must take
Getting into my skiff,I look up and around
A star filled sky meeting mountains and ground
I swear I can feel that full moon,so big and bright
Yes,everythings in place on this perfect night
Dipping my oars in the icy cold, dark water
I begin to row, thinking of my wife and daughter
In this very lake not so long ago,on a night like this
That precious pair rowed out into the mist…..
forever……
Looking behind me,now I see what I’m sure they saw
A bank of mist rolling in across the lake, concealing all
What was that ?…was it a voice I heard …or two ?
Did I really hear something ? was it my cue ?
I promised you both that you would surely see
The man you both left behind,on this, your anniversary
As I tied the anchor around my neck,I cried
Tears of joy ran down my face, for hadn’t I tried ?
Stepping over the side, frigid water  took my breath
Slowly sinking to the bottom, I welcomed my death
