A constellation over the countryside.

Under the foot of Orion, I trod

so steadily, moorland beneath.

Stars mirrored in the blackness

ahead

by sheep’s eyes, those fireballs.

I halted in their gleaming apparition,

these stealthy spirit orbs.

Miniature moons taunting me

while they phased in and out,

as though cloud disguised them.

These

stars mirrored in the blackness,

my peculiar companions of the night.
